Self-Published Authors and
Publishers
It s time to get your book
into print with our Novels4All
Independently Published
Imprint
Fiction4All is pleased to announce our Novels4All
imprint for all independent authors to get their book into print is proving to
be popular!
There are a couple of limitations well there has to be. No one is going to pay to read a printed book of
a couple of thousand words, and it is not even possible for Fiction4All to
create a book that small. So we have set the minimum word count to 20,000
words.
Next, paperbacks created in our Novels4All
imprint will ONLY be sold on our own sites so we can fulfil orders ourselves
and not have the prospect of constantly chasing other organisations
to come up with the books. We also don t want a warehouse full of books
languishing there for years on end at huge cost!
So here is how the Novels4All imprint works.
There is now an option on the AUTHORS tab for
you to opt into the Novels4All program. You can also join individual books if
you prefer. By opting into the program, you are agreeing to our terms and
conditions for creating paperback editions based on your digital books - more
on that in a moment.
For those of you with a
number of author profiles to manage, we also provide a nuclear option
for opting in which allows you to opt all your authors and their existing books
into the Novels4All program in one go. It s simple, it s quick, and any
eligible books join the queue for our production process.
So what is an eligible book?
Essentially any book with a minimum of 20,000
words can be considered for a paperback. The eBook must also be set to a 70%
royalty and thus have a minimum price of $2.99.
The opt-in process is non-reversible as once a
paperback is produced the only way for it not to be sold is for the digital
book to be unpublished. When you opt into the Novels4All program, our software
will pick up any digital book already published for the author that meets our
criteria.
In future, when any new book is submitted for
an author who is opted into the Novels4All program, the software will flag that
submission for future paperback creation.
So, what s the cost and what s
the process?
The easy bit first - there is no cost to you -
we make money when you make money. We actually think
this could be the nail in the coffin for organisations
that charge you, the author, to publish their books, which leaves none of the
cost with the publisher and all the risk with the author. So far as Fiction4All
is concerned, that is a big no-no these days.
The process is simple. We take your digital
book and reformat it to our standard paperback format, which is a UK Format B
size (12.9 * 19.8 cm). We create a professional standard paperback, laid out in
a conventional manner but without using an ISBN - as we are only selling the
paperbacks off our own sites the ISBN is not required and it cuts down the
costs a lot.
Next we create a wraparound cover. The front
will use the cover image of your supplied eBook, with a textured/coloured frame. The spine will use the same texture/colour as the frame and, provided the spine is wide enough,
will also include the title and the author name on it. For smaller word counts
this may not always be possible so the book will be created with a textured/coloured plain spine.
The back cover will contain the blurb from the
eBook, and a title where there is space. The same texture/colour
will be used as on the spine. We will also include the Novels4All imprint logo
And our printers will add a form of barcode on
the right side of the back cover.
Fonts used for the spine will be Cambria Bold
for the title and Cambria Bold Italics for the author name.
The colors/textures used will relate to the
genres of the books. The themes will be as follows:-
Dark Blue General Fiction
Red or Black for erotica
The copyright in the book will be to the author
name supplied in the eBook. Where the copyright on the eBook identifies a
specific publisher, that will be referred to as Digital Book Published by and
under that will appear This Paperback Edition published by Novels4All, the
independently published imprint of Fiction4All .
Royalties?
Please see our document on royalties for information.
Pricing
The price of a paperback has
to be set by Fiction4Al. We aim to price a book to provide a modest
royalty after costs are taken into consideration. The prices on our sites are
updated when we get notified that printing costs are increasing again - we have
processes in place to handle this.
Where will my paperback be
sold?
This depends on the genre of your book. We will
sell a paperback on the same site we sell the digital book. For adult stories
this will be A1AdultEbooks and for General Fiction and Nonfiction it will be
Fiction4All.
So how do you get started?
Join our Novels4All program today from the Control
Centre on the Self-Publishers and Publishers suite. Then just opt your
author[s] into the program and we will start adding your books to the
production process. We aim to produce up to 90 paperbacks a month at the
moment, and we will start with the latest additions and new submissions, so for
your older books please be patient as we expect there to be a HUGE take-up of
this fantastic publishing option, so it is going to take a while to get
everything you opt into the program into print.
Regards
Stuart
